Operatic and Musical Theatre JOURNEYS
Join the UM Opera Theatre Ensemble for a staged program of comic and dramatic scenes from operas, musical theatre, and operetta.
Both traditional language operas by Mozart (Le nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte), Puccini (La Bohème) and Verdi (Falstaff) are joined by new musicals such as The Book of Mormon, Violet, Wicked, Sunday in the Park with George, and The Producers. Also included are scenes from the operas A Streetcar Named Desire, Manon, Fidelio, and a new work by Linda Lister, How Clear She Shines!, based on the lives of the Brontë sisters.
Closing the show is a selection from a new pastiche based on four Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, Topsy Turvedom, or Things are seldom what they seem. The content is acceptable for a general audience.
