Youth Music Theatre Workshop
Julia Aubrey, Director of Opera Theatre and Associate Professor of Voice, and Dr. Robert Aubrey, Instructional Assistant Professor of Music Education bring a wealth of experience to the Youth Music Theatre Workshop. This husband and wife team has collaborated on children’s theatre, university and professional opera and musical theatre productions for over thirty years. Since its inception in 1996, the Youth Music Theatre Workshop has provided performance opportunities for children in Oxford and surrounding areas in musical theatre, operetta, and original works. Recent productions included preparing the seven children in The Sound of Music for the 2012 Oxford Shakespeare Festival.
This popular two-week long workshop (for students ages 9 to 17) runs from June 9 – June 20 in Nutt Auditorium in the Music Building on the campus of the University of Mississippi. The focus of the workshop is the development of performance skills in music theatre and includes exercises in singing, acting, and movement. The 2014 workshop will culminate in a performance of an original show “Cool, Cold, and Frozen Songs for the Summer” at noon on June 20. See the application provided below on how to sign up for the workshop.
