Scholarships and Opera

Scholarships are available from the University, the Music Department, and from music ensembles such as UM Opera Theatre. To make sure you are considered for both UM and departmental scholarships, please follow the Steps to Apply, below. Be sure that you’re in communication with the voice and opera faculty, because faculty recommendations are heavily weighted in the process for awarding music department and ensemble scholarship funds.

Contact Dr. Bradley Robinson, vocal area head, with any questions.

Steps to apply:

  1. Apply to the University of Mississippi as an undergraduate or graduate student.
  2. Audition for entry into the Department of Music – required for any degree program, whether undergraduate or graduate.
  3. Apply to the University for scholarships and financial aid.
  4. Apply to the Department of Music for additional music-related scholarship funds available to music majors (undergraduate and graduate). Link will be available when application form for the 2022-2023 academic year becomes active.
  5. Graduate students may also apply for a Graduate Assistantship, which comes with a stipend.

If you want to participate in Opera but do not plan to be a music major, please contact the ensemble faculty to enquire whether scholarships could be available to you.
